The latest and the greatest.

I have not updated this blog in a while so I figured I was do. A lot has happened in that time, some good employment things, some bad employment things, making my own money (AKA the hussle) but the biggest of all, I got married. On June 12th I married my best friend, Morgan Paige. She's pretty awesome... No seriously. This woman has made me believe in myself more than I ever have. I have never felt more capable and more loved in my life than I do now, with this amazing Godly woman at my side.

The wedding was great. Apparently we offend a few people when Nate (the pastor and my close friend) spoke about obedience on the part of my wife. It sucks because that's probably when they shut off their ears and missed the part about how it is my job to hold it all together, love her like Christ loved the church to include giving my life for her, and that no matter the outcome of the situation, the weight will fall on my shoulders as the leader.

It bothered my for about .25 seconds until I realized that some people are going to hear what they want to hear, and that my marriage to my wife has little to do with them. We invited them to share in our joy and happiness at what the lord brought together.

No matter what you do, what you believe, how you live, what you say etc. there are going to be people who do NOT agree with you. That's totally normal.

The only thing that leaves me wanting more is that the people who were upset do not know the joy of an awesome marriage. Marriage is a Christian ceremony, always has been... Was it to much for me to want to involve God in something that his people have been doing for years? Sillyness... It's not like I am going to rush into a meeting of the PEGANS (people against goodness and normalcy.... you win points if you get that pun) and be upset because "they're doing it wrong!"

I realize that this very posting will entice certain people who read it to become upset or think im stupid for following Christ. Yup comes with the territory. To them I say... I know what it is to see it from your side of the fence. I used to live there too. Nothing has awaken my ability to love and be loved like knowing the One that first loved me.

My first cross-country

My first cross country helicopter trip is coming up next week. I cant begin to tell you how excited I am about this. I really owe it to my buddy, Travis. He is the one who fueled my fire toward becoming a helicopter pilot. He's a great friend and an awesome pilot/instructor with over 3,000 hours on his logbooks.

We are ferrying a helicopter from KCNO (Chino, Ca) to Houston, Texas. The ride is an R44 Raven II. Though the helicopter is equipped for IFR, we are hoping for clear weather and a good for the flight out to TX.

The average operation cost for an R44 is roughly $500 per hour, so for the 12 hour flight from here to Houston would be a pretty penny. Travis is doing me a great (huge) favor by letting me take this trip with him and log some of the time. Any time I can get in a helicopter is great, any time I can get for free.... is well, a blessing.

This is a pretty decent start to a new career.

Flight school

With any luck, flight school is right around the corner for me. I will more than likely be attending Guidance Helicopters school in Prescott Arizona. The program is two years long and will give me 200 hours in R22 and R44 helicopters, giving me a Private Pilot Certificate, Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot Certificate, Flight Instructor Certificate with Helicopter Rating and Instrument Helicopter Rating.

Next step for a guy with these ratings is landing (haha) a job as a flight instructor. Sometimes, if there are openings, the school that trained you may offer a job. I sure wouldn't mind staying in Prescott, it is gorgeous!

There are a few things I have to take care of before I get accepted... First is drop about 20 pounds (R22 seat weight restriction is reduced due to the high altitude of Love field) and brush up on my algebra so I can pass the placement test.

So I'm seeing a tutor (Thanks Mr. Dan!) And eating a lot of food that tastes like cardboard.
Pretty soon I will have to look down to see up!

Generic intro blog

My life isn't that interesting but I thought enough of it go give it a blog. Here I will blog about what bothers me, what makes me happy, what I'm doing, things I'm building, ways I've hurt myself (usually physically), silly things my fiance says, aircraft I've flown, cars I've driven, and whatever else I want.

Why wing and a Prayer? Well... the wings are for fun and the prayer is for the rest.
